33 AND STILL STANDING
– Written by Anne Ogunlesi

A story about, love, fate, violence, and a decision to live.

About The Author

FOR SEVERAL YEARS, Anne Ogunlesi has worked with children in the classroom and through her private tuition classes. An advocate for supporting parents and children, Anne has brought her experience and expertise into her local church and community. During the 2020 Lockdown period, she started raising Confident Children (The RCC Academy), borne from her desire to see every child grow into a confident adult who thrives in every area of life.

A graduate, economist, teacher and trained counsellor, Anne is married to an amazing husband and also a mother to her beautiful children.

About The Book

Despite her academic achievements, nothing could have prepared Anne for what young love, fate and a chance ordeal had in store.

At the age of 24, Anne married the man she loved, a family friend since she was 10. He was well respected in society and attended the same church. Love blossomed for the newlyweds and Anne felt like she was living her dream. Then it became a nightmare.

He left her for dead that day. The day that forever changed the course of her life. The day she realised she belonged to a God who sees and protects.

How does a woman in her twenties live, love and hope again after her entire life shatters into irretrievable pieces?

33 And Still Standing is a story of resurrection and second chances.

Reviews

The book is a must read, once you start you just want to finish.
Touches on suicidal thoughts, anger management, abuse and how to be there for a friend going through issues amongst other things.
Very down to earth, yet compelling in the way the tale was told.
I will recommend to anyone.

What a captivating and well laid out but heart-rending account of Anne’s experience.

No woman should have to experience what she did but if she hadn’t how would she have shared this story with the world?

How would she have created awareness of those seemingly hidden but visible signs of mental illness?

Her life account kept me glued until I finished the book and I will highly recommend. Love, for her came at a cost and I believe this book will help in saving someone out there.

The writer told her story in a compelling and captivating way. I honestly could not put the book down until I finished it. It’s a story of redemption and restoration available through God. It is a must-read book that shows God our father as a God of a second chance who is able to save and deliver us regardless of what life throws at us. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will recommend this book for all to read.

Anne Ogunlesi in her book – ‘33 and still standing’ tells her story of a long and difficult recovery from severe trauma. I was so moved by this book especially reading chapter 5.

She set the scene well by giving an account of her childhood and background, then moved to describe events leading up to the horrendous attack she suffered. A tragic story it is but one told not from a standpoint of pity but of God’s power and purpose. Anne relates how she found purpose in her experiences.

It takes courage to write about such an ordeal. I enjoyed how she captured the details of meeting Christ, making new relationships and remarrying. The account of how she overcame the negative thoughts, feelings and emotions she struggled with from guilt, to blame to condemnation and fear; to the on-going battles within is worth the read. It clearly proved that God is faithful and no matter the trauma, you can live again.

All praise be to God, Anne is still standing, not just standing but to quote her “growing into the armour God had prepared for her to wear.”

It’s a book of encouragement and I strongly recommend it. You will be encouraged and empowered by this powerful book!
